Berberine is a natural alkaloid found in medicinal herbs that is showing great promise in lowering insulin levels and improving insulin resistance - two critical factors influencing PCOS-related metabolic outcomes*. According to recent studies, berberine could even outperform traditional treatments in various key areas, including body fat, triglycerides and cholesterol levels, and hormonal status*.
Berberine also has anti-inflammatory properties, which may counteract chronic low-grade inflammation that often leads to joint pain and headaches*.
Why Choose Berberine Over Inositol?
Although Inositol and Berberine both show promise in addressing insulin resistance*, there are some key differences:
- Berberine may be more effective for managing weight and improving body composition*.
- Inositol is pregnancy and breastfeeding-safe, whereas berberine is not.
- Inositol can be taken long-term, whereas berberine requires breaks for sustainable use.
